Discover medieval and Tudor history at three great attractions.
The late medieval and Tudor era is a fascinating period in English history. There can be few better places to learn about these times and to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of a fifteenth-century town than at our three medieval attractions.
Barley Hall offers the chance to experience life and manners in a grand townhouse in the reign of Richard III. The Richard III Experience at Monk Bar tells the story of England’s most famous king in the fortified surroundings of a medieval gatehouse. The Henry VII Experience at Micklegate Bar takes a look at the life and times of Richard’s greatest enemy and founder of the Tudor dynasty, Henry VII, in the setting of York’s most important ceremonial gateway.
At all three attractions learners will handle replica artefacts and meet medieval guides, who will encourage them to apply problem solving and creative thinking to enhance their understanding of the past.
